WebFeb 22, 2023 · Recently, I have been hearing lifter noise if I slowly rev the engine when cold. I can also hear it while using engine breaking at operating temps. Truck has 50k miles, oil changes every 5k miles. I thought that the 3.5 Ecoboost has valve buckets, but it turned out gen 2 has roller followers and hydraulic lifters, which confirmed my diagnosis.
